Portable toilet container houses
From the initial negotiations in February to the final delivery in July, this order spanned six months. So, what did we experience during this period? Let me walk you through it.
It began on February 21st, 2019, when our contact, Michelle, sent us an inquiry for a container house. Her requirements were as follows:
"Please quote for a portable toilet built into a 20-foot container. The configuration should be:
Men: 2 toilets, 2 urinals, 3 basins.
Women: 3 toilets, 3 basins.

Our engineer, Peter, promptly created a design based on her requirements for review. A few days later, she came back with another question:
“Could you please provide a quote for on-site installation at your factory?”
It's important to note that our container houses are standardized products. A standard 20ft model measures 6055mm2435mm2896mm, which is too tall to fit inside a standard shipping container for transport.
To meet the client's request, our Engineering and Production departments held a meeting to brainstorm solutions. After several days of discussion, they devised the following plan: we would fully assemble the portable house at our factory and then load the complete unit into a specialized flat rack container for shipment.
Following this, Ann reached out to Michelle on WeChat:
Ann: "Hi Michelle, how are you?"
A long time later, Michelle replied:
Michelle: "Hi Ann, sorry I missed your message. I had too many WeChat windows open and yours got buried—I completely forgot about it!"
Ann: "That's quite alright. Be sure to take some time to relax amidst your busy schedule, my friend."
Michelle: "Thank you, Ann. I make sure to go jogging for 30 minutes every morning."
Ann: "That's excellent. Regarding the project, our engineers have proposed a solution."
Ann relayed the solution to Michelle:
"Firstly, the main structure will be pre-assembled at our factory, but the internal fittings will be installed on-site to prevent any potential damage during transit. One 40HQ shipping container can accommodate one complete portable toilet unit.
Secondly, to meet shipping size constraints, we recommend adjusting the dimensions to 5900*2250*2500mm. We also suggest removing one toilet, as having five in this configuration would make the space feel crowded. If you approve these size changes, we will proceed to refine this solution."
Michelle replied:
"I see. That sounds acceptable. Please send me the drawings and quotation as soon as possible, as our client is also urgently waiting for them."
"Okay, we will provide them to you ASAP," Ann responded.
To develop the best solution for our customer in the shortest time possible, we convened an emergency meeting.
"If we ship the unit fully assembled, the biggest challenge for the client will be offloading it. How can we solve this?"
The meeting room fell silent as everyone pondered the question.
"What about wheels? We could install four wheels on the bottom," one colleague suggested.
"That's a good idea!" Everyone applauded the simplicity of the concept.
"No," Peter interjected, raising a concern. "If we use wheels, the unit could shift back and forth inside the shipping container during transit. It would arrive at the destination port seriously damaged."
"Peter is right. We need a solution that offers the best of both worlds," the manager agreed.
"How about a braking system? We could step on the brakes to lock it in place when needed," another proposed.
"But that would be very costly, and the customer is working within a strict budget."
Then Kevin, a colleague with ten years of loading experience, spoke up: "We could use fixing straps to secure all four corners of the unit, with the wheels attached."
"Excellent! We have those straps in stock at the factory. We can test this idea immediately."

After numerous trials and in-depth discussions, we submitted our quotation based on the finalized plan.
In the end, the client opted for the original design. Although our specific solution was not selected for this project, the entire process proved to be a significant growth opportunity for our design and production teams. The innovative solution we developed did not go to waste; it was subsequently recognized and adopted by another client of ours in Fiji, for whom we successfully completed the order.
This experience underscores our commitment: we are not just a supplier, but a dedicated partner. Our professionalism is reflected in our relentless pursuit of the optimal solution for every customer, ensuring their ultimate success.
